Sanding of the Cajon body

Today was busy work. The oak body has now had a few days to harden. After I have rounded the corners, I can finally judge whether everything runs together exactly. As you can see, the epoxy channels run absolutely exactly to each other, that’s how it should be. This is how the Cajon looks afterward, as if it were cast from a piece. I am very happy with the result. Now the now round miters have to be sanded. This is quite tedious with oak, oak with epoxy is almost a cheek. The bond is really very hard, but I have to get through it. You are rewarded afterwards with a great, unique instrument, I love my work. It’s always a magical moment for me when I lift up the body for the first time and knock on it. How resonant is it, how does it sound? That is always exciting. After pre-sanding the body, I mixed resin again and glued in the rest of the Padouk strips. Right, now I have to wait again. Next blog
